Chief Sustainability Officers Network
Welcome to the CSO Network.
As Chief Sustainability Officers, our role is evolving rapidly in response to the pressing challenges we face today. The climate crisis, loss of biodiversity, and growing inequality are just a few of the critical issues that demand our attention and responsibility as businesses. With each passing day, stakeholder demands, regulatory changes, and evolving expectations from employees place increasing emphasis on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations.
We find ourselves transitioning from a state of isolation to full integration, not only in the strategic aspects of our organizations but also on a tactical and operational level. These are truly remarkable and consequential times for CSOs. However, it is important to acknowledge that this journey is not always easy.
That is why I am thrilled that we have initiated the CSO network, providing a platform for CSOs to come together and share insights, best practices, as well as dilemmas and struggles. By fostering this collaborative environment, we can collectively tackle the world's most pressing problems and accelerate the sustainability transformation.
I am eagerly looking forward to meeting each and every one of you and working collaboratively towards a more sustainable future.

About the network
At PwC, we recognize the increasing importance of the Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO), a role that drives the sustainability transition as companies put ESG at the heart of their business. To support this transformation, we have established an exclusive Chief Sustainability Officer Network, which offers sustainability leaders from the largest corporations in the Netherlands a network to come together, share sustainability challenges and achievements, as well as expertise.
Led by PwC’s own CSO, Wineke Ploos van Amstel-Haagsma, the sustainability frontrunners will meet up in annual round table and networking sessions. The network will work together to accelerate the integration of ESG into every business decision and enable the transition towards a sustainable world.

‘How to make the DMA most effective strategically’
Robert Metzke
Global Head of Sustainability, Philips
Tanja Roeleveld
Head of Sustainability and Global Affairs, Lely
Double materiality is a concept that is gaining increasing attention in the sustainability discourse. As a Chief Sustainability Officer, you face a unique set of challenges in finding the right balance between financial performance and sustainability goals. Your role involves integrating sustainability into core business activities, measuring impact and fostering collaboration within your organization. This can be a complex and multifaceted task that requires navigating various stakeholders, aligning strategies and driving change. How to translate the DMA outcomes to optimize your company's strategy, to increase the impact of your organization. Which actions and follow up can you think of? The purpose of this session is to provide a platform for a deeper exploration of this important concept and its implications for your organization.
During this meeting, we will not only have a unique opportunity to learn from the experience of our speakers but also have time for (small) group discussions, to share best practices and dilemmas in the field of double materiality. Together, we will discuss how you can integrate this concept most effectively into your company's strategy and ensure a balanced approach to both financial and non-financial performance.
After the formal session, we would like to close off the first year of the CSO Network together on board a boat on the canals of Amsterdam. While enjoying drinks and an informal dinner, you have the opportunity to further connect with other CSOs and next to this to provide your input on how to further accelerate our joint impact via the CSO Network by sharing your input for the program next year.
Please let us know if you are able to join us, for the entire program or one of the two elements of the event, via the buttons below.
